Think of the last time you overindulged. How did it make you feel? Lethargic & drained? Nauseous? Guilty?
Every time I have taken WAY more than my fair share, I’m angry at myself and regret every bite of that second helping. I have a hard time sleeping and for the next few days my stomach just isn’t right. For today’s Thanksgiving meal, I promise to use willpower…after all, I have worked very hard all week to stay on-track.
- Have breakfast today
- Drink plenty of water
- Go for a power walk or a run while the food is in the oven
- Chew minty gum
- Eat the ‘big meal’ slowly…and on a small plate
- Give yourself credit when you resist the cheese plate: opt for veggies instead
- Stay focused on your goal: today is just another day, right?
By practicing a little self control, you’ll avoid the dreaded weight-gain and set yourself up for success during the entire holiday season. You have the power of restraint. Find it in you.
